National Weather Advisory High Winds 4/30/2021

Good afternoon, There have been several updates given by the National Weather Service, Cecil County Department of Emergency Services, and the State of Maryland regarding today's impending wind event. As it stands now, the peak wind event is slated to begin at/around 3pm and lasting through midnight. Sustained winds of 30-35 mph are expected with wind gusts up to 60-70 mph. We are following the Dual Bridge Closure that has been distributed by MDTA and SHA should there be a bridge closure. The various phases will occur when the following conditions have been reached; - Phase 1; Wind Warning, 30-35 mph sustained winds with gusts persistently for 15 min. of > 30 mph - Phase 2; Limited Wind Restrictions, 40-49 mph sustained winds with gusts persitently for 15 min. of > 40 mph - Phase 3; Full Wind Restrictions, > 50 mph sustained winds with gusts persistently for 15 min. of > 50 mph - Phase 4; Traffic Holds (BRIDGE CLOSURES), > 55 mph sustained winds with gusts persistently for 15 min. of > 55 mph. At the activation of Phase 3 notification will be made to town DPW. Police personnel have been placed on stand-by/recall status in the event we need additional resources. Cecil County Department of Emergency Services will be activating a virtual Emergency Operations Center (EOC) effective at 3pm. Periodic updates will be posted on social media as received.
